AUSKF Membership Transitional Period

November 30, 2014

Hello federation presidents,

This is to follow up on Marsten sensei’s earlier email about the revised bylaws and policy and procedure manual and clarify what it pertains to the membership registration procedure.

Member federations of the AUSKF are hereby notified that, effective for the next cycle, the membership period spans between April 1 and March 31. Consequently, the duration of the current membership status for 2014 is extended until March 31, 2015. This change is designed to eliminate long-standing confusions and extra paperwork arising from the gap between the starting date of the membership (January 1) and the payment deadline (March 31). Starting next year, we will align these dates so that there will be no gap in between.

From the administrative perspective, nothings changes except for one transitional procedure. As before, all membership applications for 2014 should be sent to Tsuyoshi Inoshita. The application packet for the new cycle (membership year 2015) will be sent out by the new treasurer Kotaro Yoshida by the end of this year or early next year as before.

The only change we make applies to the transitional period, which is the first three months of 2015. For the next membership cycle only, we will allow an exception for brand new members to extend their membership backward by up to three months. This is to allow brand new members to test during the first three months of 2015 as a member of the 2015 cycle. Just like before, your federations need to send in applications well before the shinsa date so that they can obtain AUSKF ID #s and become eligible to test. As an example, a new member who plans to test in February should send in a 2015 membership application in January. His/her membership will be good between the date the ID # is issued and the end of March, 2016.

Hope the explanations are clear enough. Please forward any question to me.

Thank you very much for disseminating this information to your local dojos.

Team USA Fundraiser

November 1, 2014

Thank you always for your encouragement and support of Team USA.  The members of the team are practicing very hard (6 days a week) in preparation for the World Championships, which will be held in May in Tokyo, Japan.

In order to fund raise, we have prepared various items to sell. We are currently offering t-shirts for $25 each and tenugui for $10 each. More details can be found on this form, and also on SupportTeamUsaKendo.com.

In addition to the items listed above, we are in the process of making a booklet with various features including a history of Team USA, profiles of Sensei who greatly impacted the development of kendo in the United States, and much more. We are very excited for this booklet, as it will serve not only as a fundraiser, but also as a means to commemorate our journey to the 16th World Kendo Championship.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could forward the attached information to your dojo members.  Please note that fundraiser items will only be on sale until November 30th and booklet sponsorship opportunities will only be available until November 15th.

Any questions regarding sponsorships or fundraiser merchandise can be directed to info@supportTeamUSAkendo.com.

Thank you very much for your continued support and encouragement.

Best regards,

Team USA Kendo
