Following is the summary of the changes that will take effect as of January 2019. This will apply to all Kendo, Iaido, and Jodo.

1 Dan eligibility: Minimum age 13 years and older. (Current: 14)

Consideration for senior members older than 65 years old, who wish to test for high rank promotion test is approved. Continuous regular practice is required before testing for the new rank over the following number of years. (Currently, no consideration has been given for senior members)

5 Dan: 2 years or more after 4 dan
6 Dan: 2 years or more after 5 dan
7 Dan: 3 years or more after 6 dan

Please apply those new regulations in your federation as of January 1, 2019. Wish you all happy holidays and new year!
